Avril Lavigne está finalmente de volta aos holofotes. Alguns depois de lançar o lead-single do seu sexto álbum de estúdio, a canadense participa do programa do apresentador James Corden no famoso quadro Carpool Karaoke. A aparição da loira no programa dá início ao trabalho de divulgação de Gravity, e como já de costume no quadro, também cantou algumas músicas e cedeu uma entrevista para Corden.
CARPOOL KARAOKE
James Corden: Hoje eu tenho o prazer de ter a companhia de uma cantora maravilhosa e muito simpática. Depois de algumas recusas, ela finalmente aceitou vir aqui. Não é mesmo, Avril?
A câmera se move para o lado mostrando Lavigne aos risos, o som de aplausos é ouvido no momento em que ela surge.
Avril Lavigne: Só para deixar claro: eu estava de férias! Queria passar o máximo de tempo com minha família antes de voltar a trabalhar.
James Corden: Férias de dois anos? É isso mesmo?
Avril Lavigne: [risos] Eu trabalhei muito no álbum anterior. Acho que eu merecia.
James Corden: Você é muito apegada à sua família, certo?
Avril Lavigne: Sim, eles sempre estão me dando apoio e amor quando eu preciso. Eu não sei o que seria de mim sem eles, são o meu porto seguro. Quando volto para nossa casa no Canadá, me sinto muito protegida.
James Corden: Você é tão legal que até esqueci que é canadense [risos].
Avril Lavigne: Como?
James Corden: Vamos pular para outro assunto, é melhor.
Avril Lavigne: Também acho!
James Corden: Fale um pouco sobre o seu novo álbum.
Avril Lavigne: Meu novo álbum é mais limpo, eu acho. As músicas são mais simples, e ao mesmo tempo profundas carregando uma mensagem que quero passar para quem ouvir. É um disco que fala muito sobre amor, sobre união. É bem bonito, tem uma música que eu adoro e é bem dançante. Talvez seja a minha favorita.
James Corden: Qual álbum você define como o melhor da sua carreira?
Avril Lavigne: Não digo melhor, mas o Let Go foi o álbum em que eu mais trabalhei. Foi o meu primeiro e eu quis impressionar, gravei e compus por cerca de dois anos. Eu me joguei dentro do trabalho, eu vivi aquilo de verdade.
Um corte leve e rápido é dado na entrevista, e o som do carro tocava um dos mais famosos hits da cantora, What The Hell. Os dois começaram a cantar e logo em seguida riram logo após. Girlfriend tocou logo em seguida e ambos cantaram alto enquanto faziam caretas engraçadas para a câmera.
James Corden: Você como veterana na indústria acha que os novos cantores(as) tem chance de decolar e fazer uma carreira tão icônica como a sua?
Avril Lavigne: Olha, eu tenho realmente prestado atenção nesses novos artistas. A grande maioria é talentosa, dá pra perceber que gostam realmente do que fazem. Outros ainda são genéricos demais, falta ousadia e personalidade. Esses acabam ficando perdidos em lançamentos de discos e singles medianos, enquanto os outros decolam com trabalhos excelentes.
James Corden: Você pode dizer quais artistas dessa nova geração mais te agrada?
Avril Lavigne: Lea Michele, a Pandora Boxley é uma fofa. AURORA canta com a alma, é impressionante! Essas três são as minhas favoritas, eu acho que todas tem muito o que mostrar para o mundo.
James Corden: Voltando a falar sobre o seu novo álbum. Por que Gravity foi escolhida para ser o carro-chefe do disco?
Avril Lavigne: É uma canção que eu gostei desde o início. Ryan e eu sentamos e escrevemos em alguns dias. Eu, de algum modo, já sabia que seria ela quem iria abrir meu álbum.
James Corden: Ouvi falar que Ryan é o principal produtor do álbum, e que compôs boa parta das faixas com você. Como foi trabalhar com ele?
Avril Lavigne: Foi ótimo! Descobrimos que possuímos uma conexão excelente, tudo saiu perfeitamente. Ele é maravilhoso, tive muita sorte de poder trabalhar com esse talento.
James Corden: Só amizade?
Avril Lavigne: [risos] Ah... próxima pergunta.
Com outro corte rápido, a canção Crush de Zara Larsson começou a tocar no carro. Lavigne fez um sinal negativo com a cabeça, o que fez o apresentador trocar de canção. Em seguida, Blackcherry de Pandora Boxley foi cantada pela dupla em meio a risos e dancinhas improvisadas no minúsculo espaço que tinham.
My Happy Endind, Give You What You Like e Complicated também foram cantadas por ambos e a entrevista seguiu por mais alguns minutos. Ao entrarem no estúdio, o apresentador agradeceu a companhia da cantora e anunciou a sua performance que seria exibida após os comerciais.
PERFORMANCE - GRAVITY
No palco estavam Avril e sua banda. Atrás havia um telão, e holofotes pousava em cima dos artistas. O instrumental de Gravity começou a ser tocado pela banda. A cantora entrou cantando logo em seguida. O telão mostrava a letra da faixa e também imagens da cantora, no que pode ser o possível clipe da faixa. As luzes, agora brancas, piscavam e apagavam rapidamente quando o refrão entrava. Avril andava no palco e interagia com a plateia que cantava junto a ela. Em determinado momento, a cantora retirou o microfone da boca e o apontou para a plateia que seguiu com a canção. Quando a apresentação teve seu fim, vários jatos de fumaça foram soltados e a cantora e sua banda receberam uma grande salva de palmas do público.
